February vacation is right around the corner, and if you're looking for ways to keep the kids entertained and engaged, you're in luck! Whether your child loves sports, arts and crafts, STEM activities, or outdoor adventures, there are plenty of local camps and daily activities going on throughout the week. From half-day workshops to full-week camps, these options provide a great way for kids to learn new skills, make new friends, and burn off some energy—while giving parents a much-needed break.
February Vacation Camps
There's still time to register your kids for February vacation camps, with options for full weeks and drop-ins, as well as full- and half-day sessions.
Code Wiz Reading: Modding with Minecraft

In this creative Minecraft class, challenge the odds, craft your own kinds of weapons and build dream worlds using code. Do this while also learning fundamental programming concepts, level design and problem-solving skills. Participants will make use of ready-made coding blocks to create mini versions of Minecraft games. They will learn how to develop skills in problem-solving and finding the best solutions to a targeted goal. They will have an understanding of programming within the context of Minecraft Modding, and will learn game design, all within the comfort of Minecraft.

Creative Arts
February Vacation Art at Creative Arts has both full week and drop-in sessions, as well as full- and half-day options (scroll down for February sign-ups). Students will explore art and their creativity with different themes that will change daily. Art supplies provided such as clay, mixed media, water color, acrylic paints, charcoal, color pencils, masks, upcycled materials, 3-D supplies (beads, glitter, fabric, feathers, pipe cleaners, and more).

- Times: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. (full day); 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. or 1-4 p.m. (half days)

Follow Your Art (FYA) Melrose: Creature Feature
Join FYA Melrose for a creative creature experience over February Break! Students will have the opportunity to design their own mixed-up creatures, and then use those creatures and their adventures as a jumping-off point for theatre games and a showcase featuring their characters. The day will be split into Theatre and Studio Art time, with a break for lunch. Financial aid is available through Arts for All, and you can apply here prior to registration.

Reading Gymnastics
Gymnastics lovers can join Reading Gymnastics for either a half- or full-day camp during February vacation. They will stay active, learn new skills, and have plenty of fun!

- Times: 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. (full day); 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. (half day)
- Cost: Full day: $225 for 2 days or $324 for 4 days; Half day: $190 for 2 days or $245 for 4 days

The Ride Cafe: Kids Learn to Ride Series
If you think your child is ready to gain confidence to ride away on their pedal bike without training wheels, drop them off for The Ride Cafe’s Kids Learn to Ride Series. Designed for kids beginning their journey towards learning how to ride a pedal bike or for those who recently learned, participants are divided up by skill and confidence level for the fun games and activities to create independent and confident little riders. The session includes a bike adjustment, helmet fitting, and lessons focused on balance and coordination, steering and braking, goal gliding, pedaling, and street safety. Rentals are not included, but you can rent them via The Ride Cafe.

Paper & Clay (Melrose): Hand Building Workshop
Drop the kids and get some work done while they create a beautiful hand built piece of pottery at the School Vacation Hand Building Workshop for ages 5-12. Pieces will be glazed during the class with underglaze and available for pick up after they are fired in the kiln in 2-3 weeks post class.

Stone Zoo (Stoneham)
Join Zoo New England this February Vacation at either the Stone Zoo or Franklin Park Zoo! Each day is its own unique session with a different theme - Fuzzy Fur, Smooth Scales, Flying Feathers, Shiny Shells, and Slimy Skin - so you can join for one day or all five. Taught by Zoo educators, classes include hands-on activities, discussion, animal encounters and behind-the-scenes experiences.
