With temps dropping a bit here in the Boston 'burbs, along with kids heading back to school, signs of fall are coming! This week's top 5 events in and around Wakefield include a free family day at Assembly Row's Riverfest event, fitness classes that give back, an apple-themed pop-up and more. 1. Assembly Row Riverfest 2022 - Saturday, September 10

Officially close out the summer season with Riverfest, a day filled with free events, fun, and fireworks, sponsored by the Capital One Café. From 4-8 p.m. there will be live music, family-friendly activities like chalk art and face paining, and Assembly Row retailers will be engaging with attendees via prize wheels and more. Throughout the afternoon, the Boston Women's Market is also putting on an artisanal market, located between Shake Shack and Caffe Nero. To close out the evening, a fireworks display will go off at 8:30 p.m. 

2. Boston Lights: A Lantern Experience at the Franklin Park Zoo - Now through Sunday, September 25

Don't miss out on getting tickets to Boston Lights! This exhibit - with over 55 magnificent displays comprised of hundreds of beautifully crafted lanterns spanning Franklin Park Zoo's 72 acres - runs through Sunday, September 25 and you'll want to get tickets in advance. Discover luminous scenes from the rainforest, whimsical ocean displays with creatures of the deep, glowing corridors of lotus and bamboo, traditional Asian lanterns, stunning 66-foot-long rose corridor, and a colossal 82-foot-long octopus tunnel with blinking eyes and color-changing tentacles!

3. Everybody Fights x Burtons: Class on the MarketStreet Lynnfield Grass - Saturday, September 10

Take some "me time" on MarketStreet Lynnfield's grass for an Everybody Fights TRAIN class that features boxing, strength, and cardio. A portion of proceeds benefit the Saugus High School class of 2023.

5. Move2Joy Yoga Fundraiser Benefitting Wakefield Alliance Against Violence - Sunday, September 11

Another fitness-focused opportunity to give back to the community - this time to WAAV via a donations-based yoga class on Lake Quannapowitt.

5. Buckalew's Apple Fest at Buckalew's General Store - Tuesday, Sept. 13 - Saturday, Sept. 17

Head to Buckalew's on Main Street in Melrose to celebrate New England's signature fruit, the apple! They'll have various apple products for sale all week, along with specific events like free apple cider and cookies, apple and cheese pairings, beer tastings and more.
