It's time for fall family fun in Wakefield and we can hardly wait! We are lucky to have so many fall attractions and events in Wakefield where families have been making fall memories for years. From picking apples to leaf-peeping to Halloween fun ... Macaroni KID Wakefield has all the details for you and your family to make the most of autumn in Wakefield.

Pick Your Own Apple Farms 

Russell Orchards

143 Argilla Rd, Ipswich, MA 01938

Details: Open Tuesdays to Sundays 9am-6pm 

More information: 

Weekends (and Monday holidays):Purchase an empty 10 lb bag (1 peck) at the beginning of the walking trail. This admits 1-5 people ages 4 and above to the orchard. Groups of more than 5 will be asked to purchase an additional bag. Enjoy a beautiful 7-15 minute walk through the orchard to your apple picking destination. When your apple bag is full walk bag to the store. (Due to ongoing COVID concerns, not offering hayrides at this time.)

Tuesday-Friday: Begin at the PYO booth near the pond. Entrance to the orchard is $5 per person aged 4 and above. Apple picking bags are provided as you begin a leisurely 5 minute walk to the rows of apple varieties. Apples are priced by the pound. Your bag is weighed at the exit and you pay for what you have picked. The entry deposit is credited towards the apples picked. (No refunds.)

Smolak Farms

Details: PYO is open 8am – 5pm daily. The last entry into our picking fields is 4:15pm daily. Please note: masks are optional in our PYO fields.

Fall Festival is BACK at Smolak Farms! Every weekend during September and October, we’ll be hosting a variety of different activities and events with different themes. See below for all the details!

Weekly Themes
Each weekend, we’ll have a different Fall Festival theme. See below for what you can expect:

September 4-6 (Labor Day Weekend): 60’s / Woodstock themed
September 11-12: Superhero themed
September 18-19: Disney themed
September 25-26: Pirates themed

All of October will have a HALLOWEEN theme!

Activities
Themed Hayrides: Includes hayride with characters and games, donut, goody bag, and apple picking! Guests get off and on at various stops in the orchard and then are dropped off at the end for apple picking. Children and guests are encouraged to come in costume! Each hayride will have a winner for best costume. The winner will be featured on our social media and receive a prize from our prize chest! Pricing: $22/child, $7/adult

Cow Train & Face Paint: Face painting and unlimited cow train rides! Pricing: $7/child

Story & Craft w/ Characters: Enjoy a story and a craft with themed characters! This event will run daily at 11am and 1pm. Tickets include a donut and a bag of animal feed along with the story and craft. Pricing: $20.00/child

Hop on Hayride: $7.00/person (kids under 2 are free)

Fall Fun Package: $25/child
This package includes a hayride with characters, a donut, a goody bag, apple picking, face painting and cow train rides.

Fall Deluxe Package: $45/child
This package includes a hayride with characters, a donut, a goody bag, apple or pumpkin picking, face painting and cow train rides, as well as access to one Story & Craft event.

Wine & Beer Bar
This fall, we’re featuring a variety of adult beverages at our Wine & Beer bar, including weekly featured local brews! See below for the full schedule of featured brewers.
